CIA planes that render people to torture have used Scottish airports with impunity... CACI, a defence contractor involved in human rights abuses, will be running the next Scottish census… Special Branch officers target Muslims and activists for "anti-terror" questioning at Glasgow airport and Stranraer... British Transport Police continue to "randomly" stop and search people under emergency anti-terror powers granted after the incendiary attack on Glasgow airport... Scottish Police stop and search people they think are "suspicious" under an assortment of ill-defined powers... the Law Lords have ruled that it's OK to deport foreign citizens to torture... the British Government is covering up its involvement in torture... people continue to be punished without being charged with any crime on the basis of evidence heard in secret... you can be jailed for thought-crime... This is your chance to discuss these and human rights issues affecting our lives in Scotland. The meeting will include a brief SACC AGM to elect SACC office-bearers etc. SACC is a Scotland-wide organisation; this is an all-Scotland AGM. All SACC members and delegates from member organisations (up to two delegates from each organisation) are entitled to vote. Anyone who supports our aims can join/renew their membership at the meeting. Individual membership costs £5 per year (waged) / £3 per year (unwaged). Organisations can affiliate to SACC for £20 per year. The main part of the meeting promises to be a key event for anyone interested in civil liberties and the war on terror, whether a member of SACC or not. So please come along, and please bring your friends. |
