Despite threats of mass arrests, over 100 campaigners occupied BBC Scotland headquarters in Glasgow on Sunday evening to protest against the BBC’s decision not to show the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal for Gaza. 

The BBC Controller in Scotland has agreed to meet with protestors on Wednesday to discuss the issue further.The occupation was successful in applying additional pressure on the BBC through extensive national and international media coverage, including CNN, CBS and Al-Jazeera. 

Solidarity co-convenor Tommy Sheridan said of the protest; "Solidarity members are involved in this protest, I salute their action and call on the BBC to be impartial on this issue. The Israeli PM Olmert has made it clear he considers war crimes against Palestinians by the IDF (Israeli Defence Forces) to be justified. The BBC are joining him in presenting humanitarian aid to Gazans as action against Israel."
