Solidarity Stand in Dundee By-election |

Solidarity are standing trade unionist Neil Bell as their candidate in the forthcoming Lochee by-election for Dundee City Council which takes place on November 22nd.
Neil is an active trade unionist and a member of the PCS trade union and was a Solidarity candidate in the May elections this year. He has a long connection with the Lochee area having lived there since childhood, and is married with three children. As well as his political work Neil plays an active role in the community including as an instructor in the Lochee Boys Brigade Company.

Six reasons to vote for Neil on November 22nd
Oppose low pay As a public sector worker and a trade unionist Neil is actively opposing Gordon Brown’s policy of forcing wage cuts onto already low paid workers, while the fat cats and rich make millions in pay and bonuses.
Scrap Council Tax Neil Bell and Solidarity are working to ensure the ending of the unfair and unjust council tax. We want it replaced with a tax that would mean the a pensioners and low paid workers pay less and the millionaires pay more.
Free school meals Neil Bell and Solidarity campaign for free, healthy and nutritious school meals for all primary and secondary school children.
End the PPP rip-off Neil Bell and Solidarity have demanded an end to the scandalous amounts of money being squandered by handing the contracts to build schools and hospitals to private corporations.
Leisure facilities We want free use of Local Authority leisure facilities for ALL under 18’s and Pensioners.
Parking at Ninewells We want a return to free parking at Ninewells Hospital and the immediate removal of the current profiteering company.
Solidarity campaigns for urgent action on the housing crisis Rocketing house prices and the lack of any new council housing being built is creating an intolerable housing scandal. Urgent action is needed now to ensure public housing at affordable rents are available for all who need them.
We demand: Cancellation of all local authority historic debt, with the released funds ring-fenced for new council house building.
Emergency action to meet Shelter’s demand for 30,000 affordable social homes in Scotland in the next three years.
