Sheridan: "The real criminals are in Westminster and Washington" Print E-mail
Four years on from when Tommy Sheridan was jailed for seven days for non-payment of a fine imposed after a protest at the Faslane base, the Solidarity Co-Convenor has called on the people of Scotland to demonstrate their opposition to Trident replacement.

Tommy urged all Solidarity members and trade unionists to get behind a push against the illegal weapons based in Scotland this week, the final week of a year-long protest at Faslane. He said:

“An international crime is being carried out in our name, using our money, while the Police and politicians stand back and not only watch, but protect the criminals from protesters and challenges.”

Sheridan has twice been jailed for protesting at the base. Next Monday is the planned 'Big Blockade' marking the end of the Faslane 365 campaign, a 12 month protest, Tommy continued:

“Huge resources will be spent in arresting and even jailing people who want to see these weapons of mass destruction confined to history. The real criminals are in Westminster and Washington. Nuclear weapons are a crime against humanity and trident replacement is a breach of international law.”
