Israel's decision to boycott the unity government in Palestine constitutes clear and unambiguous evidence of their true aims and objectives. Never since the formation of Israel in 1948, an event which immediately resulted in the forced expulsion of 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and villages, has an Israeli government sought a true and a just peace with the Palestinians or indeed with any of their Arab neighbours. Instead, the one abiding aim of the state of Israel, an aim that has burned in the black heart of a state founded at the negation of the Palestinian and Arab peoples, has been and continues to be perpetual war and ethnic cleansing.
Mick Napier, Chair of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign said:
"Whilst Israel carries out ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and genocide in Gaza, the EU rewards them with economic privileges and punishes the victims, the Palestinians, with punitive and brutal sanctions. Such nauseating hypocrisy is not lost on the Arab and muslim peoples."
Solidarity supports the Palestinians in their struggle and endorses the word wide campaign to isolate Israel economically and politically, a campaign that continues in the best traditions of human solidarity and internationalism.
The Palestinian unity government enjoys the democratic mandate of the Palestinian people. The Israeli government's refusal to acknowledge this democratic mandate is an outrage and we call for any and all sanctions to be lifted from the Palestinians and redirected to the apartheid state of Israel.
We are all Palestinians. |
