The deepening crisis in the world economy and the recent nationalisation of Northern Rock (see our website www.cwiscotland.org) are indications of the new and more unstable situation now facing global capitalism.

The insulting proposal from the employers that local government workers are worth no more than three successive years of pay cuts will cause deep anger among hundreds of thousands of public sector workers.

Added to this we also have the ongoing vendetta against Tommy Sheridan and those who have defended him - a campaign in which we are playing a leading role.

As well as Peter Taaffe on the platform we will have comrades from public sector unions speaking and a speaker from the Defend Tommy Sheridan - Defend the Sheridan 7 campaign as well.
